The Cancer and Bone Society is the institutionalization of five successful international Conferences on Cancer Induced Bone Disease (CIBD). The prior conferences were as follows:

• 1997 – The First CIBD conference was held in London, England, and was organized by Professor R.D. Rubens.
• 1999 – The Second CIBD conference was held in Davos, Switzerland, and organized by Professor Herbert Fleisch.
• 2001 – The Third CIBD conference was held on Awaji Island, Japan, and was organized by Professor Toshio Matsumoto.
• 2003 – The Fourth CIBD conference was held in San Antonio, Texas, and was organized by Dr. Gregory R. Mundy.
• 2005 – The Fifth CIBD conference was held in Davos, Switzerland, and was organized by Professor Herbert Fleisch. Click here to see the Final Program.
• 2006 – The Sixth CIBD conference was held in San Antonio, Texas, USA, and was organized by Dr. Gergory R. Mundy.

With the increasing success of the meetings and as the only group running international meetings on the subject of cancer-induced bone disease, a more formal structure was incorporated in Washington, DC, in 2004, under the name Cancer and Bone Society. The Cancer and Bone Society is governed by a board of directors elected by the conferees attending the meetings. By registering to one of the conferences, one becomes member of the organization and may participate in the Society’s elections.
