Venue
We are delighted to be hosting the 10th CABS meeting in the vibrant city of Sheffield, South Yorkshire.  With its two universities, it has a world-class reputation for teaching and research, and the city is one of the UK’s greenest, and also one of the most lively.  Although England’s 5th largest city, it is compact and easy to get around with plenty of good accommodation at affordable prices at walking distance from the conference venue and social events.  A trip to Sheffield would not be complete without a trip to the nearby Peak District National Park, Britain’s first national park, established in 1951, a must for any walkers, cyclists, cavers, climbers or simply anyone who enjoys exploring the English countryside.  From wild moorlands, through limestone dales, bustling market towns and pretty villages, the Peak District is an area of amazing variety and contrast.  If you have time we would highly recommend a visit at the end or beginning of your stay.

Of course Sheffield was once famous throughout the world for the manufacture of steel, much of which was made into cutlery, and the meeting will be held at the magnificent Cutlers’ Hall.  The Cutlers' Hall, built in 1832, is a Grade II listed building and will make a superb setting for this meeting. Situated in Sheffieldʼs city centre, the Hall is within easy walking distance of a wide range of accommodation options.  The venue is also within easy reach of rail, coach and bus stations.

Accommodation
There is a wide variety of 3 and 4 star hotel accommodation available in Sheffield within a short walking distance of Cutlersʼ Hall.

To take advantage of special rates at these hotels inform them that you are attending a meeting at Cutlers’ Hall, or quote the special code where shown.

Alternatively, the Sheffield Tourism website gives details of hotels and guest houses.  They can make your booking for you or you can book directly with the hotel.
